Family and friends in memory of Alison Joy Baker
Alison Joy Baker passed away in 1991 at the age of 25. She was an inspiration to many in the Tyler community. Born with special needs, she was the inspiration behind the Kiwanis Children’s Place, a residential program for children with severe health, behavioral or physical disabilities. This scholarship honors Alison’s memory by encouraging others to serve and care for those among us.
This scholarship began as a fellowship in 1992 and then was later amended in 2013 to become an endowed scholarship. It was started by friends and family of Alison and her parents, C.C. “Pinky” and Brenda Baker. Several individuals and organizations were instrumental in the fundraising effort for this scholarship and include the A S Genecov Foundation, Dennis and Terry Darryl, George and Pauline Rudy, and Royce Wisenbaker, Sr., among others.
