Hibbs Family Foundation

Hibbs Family Foundation

The Hibbs Family Foundation, through the generosity of Billy and Tisa Hibbs, established this scholarship in memory of Alton B. Melton. Alton was a naturally gifted musician who played the steel guitar with legendary performers including Bob Wills and Charlie Pride. He served his country with distinction in World War II, having been a part of 25 missions in Germany as a turret gunner on B17 airplanes. In the 1980’S, he formed a band with friends and performed with them up until his death in 1990. Mr. Melton was a gentleman and a devoted husband. He was also an outstanding Christian whose faith inspired him to write numerous gospel songs.
