James and Virginia Gatewood

James and Virginia Gatewood have created numerous endowed scholarships at TJC funded through them personally, or through their Gatewood-Hawkins Foundation. Over the years, nine endowments have been established to support TJC students. They have chosen to honor each other, their friends and those they admired by naming endowed scholarships at TJC. Thier investment in TJC does not stop there though. James and Virginia have generously supported the Botanical gardens across the campus and have been instrumental in other building projects and capital campaigns as well. They have truly been TJC’s biggest champions for many years and their legacy will be felt for years to come.

James passed away in October of 2001 and Virginia passed away in March of 2017.
