Virginia Gatewood in honor of Patsy Kittrell Clyde

Virginia Gatewood in honor of Patsy Kittrell Clyde

Patsy Kittrell Clyde was born in 1921, in Hamburg, Arkansas, to parents John Cabeen Kittrell, Sr. and Patsy Hankins Kittrell. Her family moved to Tyler in 1930, so that her father could pursue a career in the home building and lumber business. While a student at Tyler High School, Patsy met the love of her life, Calvin Clyde, Jr. with who she was married to for more than 70 years. She attended Southern Methodist University. Patsy had a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and uncanny recall of details. She was known for her culinary skills and was ahead of her time in creating delicacies that were both tasty and healthy. She loved her family and was very proud of their accomplishments.

To honor this great woman, this scholarship was established by Virginia Gatewood and the Gatewood-Hawkins Foundation in 2015.
